Interventions
Executive Intervention
When someone in the corporate world begins offending important clients, making poor decisions or expensive mistakes, a drug problem may be interfering with the executive’s ability to perform his or her job. Before the situation deteriorates any further—creating legal problems, PR gaffes or the need to dismiss a key person in the company—immediate action is necessary.
Approaching the executive in this situation is an extremely delicate matter. This may not be something you are prepared to deal with on your own. Still, you know that something needs to be done—and soon. A professional interventionist will be aware of the sensitivity of this situation, handling the matter with the utmost care. The intervention specialist will successfully address the problem, while preserving the dignity of the executive.
Family Interventions
When any member of a family is struggling with drug addiction, the whole family suffers. If the addict is a parent, the children and the spouse are shortchanged of love and attention that would otherwise be available. If the addict is a child, parents live in fear of a call from the police with terrible news. Siblings may feel neglected, as the parents’ attention is focused on coping with the “problem child.”
Drug abuse in this setting is truly a “family affair.” No one is immune to the problem, and everyone benefits from its solution. An interventionist can dissipate the fear, anger and disappointment various members of the family may be feeling, and interrupt the downward spiral of addiction. By helping the addicted family member accept the reality of his or her problem, the drug user—and the rest of the family—can be spared years of grief, embarrassment and pain.
Teen Interventions
What may have started as experimentation with drugs in adolescence may become addiction by the time the child reaches his or her teen years.
The family may have tried numerous times to force the teen to stop using drugs, invoking anger, punishment—even bribery—in the hope that something will get through. Everyone in the family remains constantly on edge, waiting for the next inevitable crisis.
An interventionist who specializes in teens can quickly bring the crisis to an end, helping the teenager understand that drug use is no longer the “fun” or “pressure reliever” it was in the experimental phase.
Intervention emphasizes hope for change. The process will lead the teen to an awareness of the reality of his or her problem. Next, the teen will be led to the place where the problem can be treated.
We can help you find an interventionist with training and experience in any of these specialized areas. The healing can start as soon as you call.
